i-mate JAQ Reviews

Summary of review published by Smartphone & Pocket PC — February, 2007 (page 31)

The reviewer found the i-mate JAQ to be one of the lightest Pocket PC Phone Edition units he’s ever held. Although the device is one of the lightest, it is also quite long, making it a bit unaesthetic compared to other Pocket PC models. However, the JAQ length provides ample keypad space. Also, the reviewer claims that the JAQ has one of the most vivid color touch screen display on similar Pocket PC devices. The screen itself measures 2.8 inches diagonally, with a 320x 240 pixel resolution. The JAQ runs on a 200 MHz processor, with 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of flash ROM. The unit has no built-in digital camera, but includes a stereo headphones with a microphone attached. As a phone, it works on quad-band GSM technology, allowing it to work only with Cingular and T-Mobile in North America, but it is supported by most networks all over the world. Although the JAQ has Bluetooth and EDGE connectivity, it isn’t Wi-Fi enabled. Even so, the ModemLink application that comes with the unit lets you use the JAQ as a modem for your laptop. The software suite included in the JAQ is rich with several useful features.
Pros:
-The landscape-oriented display screen is very clear and readable in almost all lighting conditions
-Ample keyboard space
-The standard mini-USB port lets you charge and sync the device while using any mini-USB cable
-Great bundled application suite has a lot of features
Cons:
-Unit is a bit awkward in bulk and design
Call quality is unimpressive
