dotSyntax Digsby Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — August, 2008

If you have several instant messaging and social networking accounts, managing them all can be quite a chore. Digsby eases the load by combining all your instant messaging, e-mail, Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter accounts into a single application. When the software is run for the first time, it will prompt you to add your instant messaging usernames and passwords. All of your contacts will appear on a single buddy list that can be customized using different skins. Using the client is a cinch. You can toggle through conversations via Ctrl+Tab. You can also engage in audio and video chats, though the reviewer noted that the video isn’t spectacular and the audio is a bit out of sync. Digsby doesn’t end with instant messaging. It allows you to view e-mail from supported accounts right from the client. You can also log into your social network accounts and check your latest messages, notifications, and events. If you need something to combine your instant messaging accounts with social networking accounts, the versatility and ease of use of Digsby make it an excellent choice.

Pros:
-integrates instant messaging with social networking
-send e-mail using the client window
-integrated video-calling feature
Cons:
-large installation file
-works with Windows only
