Windows Mobile 6.1 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — March, 2008

The frustrating Windows 6 OS get a much needed update with the release of Windows 6. 1. It offers a lot of fixes for user-interface issues as well as enhancement to Office Mobile, Internet Explorer, Live Search, SMS messaging, and more. Just like in Version 6, the 6.1 is still available in both Standard version and a touchscreen Professional version. The reviewer stated that the most notable change in Windows Mobile 6.1 is the new and refreshing home screen which allows instant access to the things you want. With its Getting Started tab, setting up e-mail, security settings, or even the clock is even easier. Even the SMS format in the Windows 6.1 changed. In the new streamlined format, you get to see threaded messages in a single place, with the latest message in bold. Live Search may have been updated in 6.1 but the reviewer stated that more can still be done, such as a bigger POI database. Internet Explorer is still present but still sluggish compared to other browsers. Add the e-mail batch management as well as Bluetooth auto-pairing and you get an OS upgrade worth getting for your device.
Pros:
-Revamped user interface
-Easy setup
-New SMS Format (threaded)
Cons:
-Sluggish IE
-No Flash Support
-Paltry POI database for Live Search
