Western Digital My Passport Elite Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

By offering security for your files as well as features you won’t normally find on other portable storage devices, Western Digital hopes that the My Passport Elite will be as indispensable as your real passport. The My Passport Elite showcases an attractive design available in Gray, Bronze, Cherry, and Westminster Blue to truly set your storage device apart. It also has a sliding door for the USB port in order to protect your My Passport Elite when not being used. The reviewer stated that backing up with the My Passport Elite is a breeze. Plug it in, follow the three-step setup and it will start backing up the system. Another nifty feature of the My Passport Elite is the ability to automatically back up photos to Shutterfly. For Windows 2000, XP, and Vista users, you get several exclusive features such as WD Sync, MioNet remote access, and Google tools. When it comes to performance, the reviewer stated that they got mixed results. Write speeds aren’t stellar but Read speeds trumped the competition. For the road warrior who wants a stylish storage device and doesn’t need blazing write speeds, the My Passport Elite might just be right for you.
Pros:
-Multi-platform compatible
-Stylish
-Windows exclusive software included
Cons:
-Encryption software for Windows only
-Slow performance
