Webroot Antivirus with Antispyware and Firewall Reviews
Summary of review published by PC Magazine — January, 2008
Webroot has a new antivirus bundled with an antispyware and firewall. Current Spy Sweeper with Antivirus users can update to the latest version for free. Unlike previous versions, it includes a firewall but you don’t really have to use it.It does the basic firewall tasks that even Windows firewall can do. But that’s it. Plus It has these anomaly pop-ups that can be downright irritating. At default, there are some features, like rootkit detection and keylogger shield, are turned off. Even when it’s turned on, the keylogger shield doesn’t seem to be able to protect and detect keyloggers in the system. It has a multitude of layers of protection against malwares but some malwares can still get through this web of shields. Webroot’s virus and spyware protection remains the same from the previous versions while its competition has made some developments.
Pros:
-Certified by independent antivirus labs
-Has multiple layers of protection that prevents the installation of most malwares
-Cleans malware-infested systems
-Includes a firewall
Cons:
-Some malwares do get installed
-Keylogger shield is ineffective
-Firewall has no stealth mode
-Firewall notice pop-ups is annoying
