Ulead VideoStudio 11 Reviews

Summary of review published by Computing Unplugged — September, 2007

Recent Internet trends have increased the demand for simple and affordable video editing software. But though there are many players in this niche, Ulead's VideoStudio 11 manages to stand tall. It comes in two versions: the Basic edition and the Plus edition, which boasts of HD, Dolby 5.1, and several other high-powered features. Common to both formats are the DV-to-DVD Wizard (to quickly export footage into a disc) and the Movie Wizard (featuring multi-overlay templates to easily create picture-in-picture effects or slide shows). The Plus version’s editing timeline allows you to add up to six video overlays, for titles, picture-in-picture, and lower third graphics, among others. For an editing suite in the $100 range, that’s a lot of features. The author suggests skipping the basic package, and paying the extra $40 for the Plus version to enjoy all the benefits.
Pros:
-Plus version supports formats ranging from HD to cell phone and 'Net video
-Editing support for Sony AVCHD format
-Rapid creation of basic discs and more detailed editing possible
Cons:
-Standard version seems redundant compared to easily-affordable Plus
