In the realm of flash drives, even the slickest software can’t save a sluggish drive. Such is the case of Transcend’s JetFlash V10. With its black and silver simple design and a sliding USB connector, it would have been all good - except that the plastic feels cheap. The JetFlash Elite software that works with the drive is available for free in Transcend’s web site. The software allows your flash drive to sync with Outlook, carry your IE favorites on the road, lock your PC, and password-protect your files with 256-bit AES encryption. The PC-Lock function turns your flash drive into an electronic key, locking your PC to prevent unwanted peeking. However, the reviewer noted that it tends to be buggy, though a backdoor will automatically unlock your PC after a certain set interval. When it comes to performance, the JetFlash V10 plodded along at a write speed rate of 4.3 MBps. On the other hand, the read speed came in at 22.1 MBps. However, the material and performance of the Transcend JetFlash V10 overshadows the good read speed and the usefulness of the Elite software.
