Being a budget projector, the Toshiba TDP-XP1U doesn’t look stunning. It weighs 4.8 pounds which, while not as light as a feather, is still easily portable. It has an assortment of connectors at the back panel which includes the standard input ports as well as output ports for a second display and audio. It comes with a very flimsy remote control. The reviewer noted that the membrane-style keys had to be pressed repeatedly in order to get any response. During lab testing, the TDP-XP1U is quite a performer. It scored 2155 lumens - the brightest XGA budget model tested by the reviewer, and displayed very sharp and steady images. However, the image size is very small, measuring only 37 inches diagonal at a 60-inch distance. The TDP-XP1U took no less than 2 minutes just to cool down. Nonetheless, the bright XGA resolution and sharp images of the Toshiba TDP-XP1U make it a strong value-priced projector contender.
