Toshiba Satellite U405 S2830 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

Breathing new life into the bland Satellite U305 is the Toshiba Satellite U405-S2830. Sporting a new sleek design, the reviewer states that the U405 is the most stylish 13.3-inch notebooks you can buy. With its new Fusion finish, a charcoal-gray lid and a glossy black keyboard, it results in a very attractive portable. Not only did it get a makeover, it also got a performance boost as well. With power coming from its Penryn processor and 3GB of RAM, benchmark scores were above average for its class. The glossy display of the U405 delivered crisp and colorful performance. It also offers a facial recognition utility, though the reviewer stated that it needs more work. One unique feature is the Sleep-and-Charge USB ports with the ability to charge different gadgets just by plugging them in. However, the reviewer stated that the feature is annoyingly off by default. Battery life is also below average, providing power for only 3 hours and 29 minutes without Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi output was below the average for its class. If you want style and speed without giving up an arm and a leg, the Toshiba Satellite U405-S2830 is a good choice.
Pros:
-Sleek design
-Fast performance
-Facial recognition available
USB can charge gadgets when notebook is off
Cons:
-Buggy facial recognition software
-Below average battery life
-Wi-Fi throughput below average for its class
