As a part of Best Buy’s Blue Label program, the Toshiba Satellite E105-S1402 is designed based on customer research by the big-box retailer. The E105’s lid features Toshiba’s high-gloss Fusion Finish and a unique squarish chassis with rounded edges. The interior still has the same Fusion Finish, though the reviewer noted that the lines are brighter and louder to the point of distraction. The backlit keyboard was comfortable but pressing a key caused a large portion of the layout to cave in temporarily. The 14.1-inch, 1280 x 800-pixel display was very crisp and had excellent viewing angles. The E105 has a bevy of ports including an HDMI port (but no Blu-ray), a 5-in-1 card reader, and a jack for the included FM radio antenna. Benchmark results showed that the E105 is a capable performer, getting 200 points higher than the category average. However, the Intel integrated graphics produced mediocre graphics benchmark scores. Wireless throughput isn’t stellar as well, pushing data at a rate of 18.4 Mbps from 15 feet, and only 11.4 Mbps at 50 feet. While it was rated to last for 5.5 hours on a charge, test results were an hour short. Nonetheless, buyers who are looking for a full-featured mobile system might want to check out the Toshiba Satellite E105-S1402.
Pros:
-keyboard is backlit
-good battery endurance
-above average performance
-lengthy warranty
Cons:
-flimsy keyboard
-below average Wi-Fi performance
