Storing all your recorded TiVo shows just got a whole lot simpler with the TiVo HD XL. It is the successor of the TiVo HD. The reviewer stated that the XL simply stands for a large amount of storage space - 1TB to be exact. Aside from the larger hard drive space, the XL looks just like the TiVo HD. It has the same 3.4-by-16.5-by-12.6-inch chassis and the Series3's OLED info display on its front panel. The familiar user interface is still easy-to-use. Like the in the HD, you can access the Rhapsody music service, Amazon Unboxed service, Yahoo! and YouTube content. An eSATA port at the back of the unit allowed for further expansion, adding external drives for an extra 60 hours of HD recording. To record premium programming from HBO and Showtime, you will simply need a CableCARD. On the other hand, you can record unscrambled HDTV from cable or an antenna hookup straight out of the box. While 1TB may sound like a lot of space, the price difference between the TiVo HD and XL may look steep. If you can live with the smaller 160GB space, get the TiVo HD. But if you plan to record a lot of HD programming, the TiVo HD XL is the best option.
Pros:
-easy to use
-large drive
-eSATA port
-backlit remote
Cons:
-expensive
