Symantec Norton 360 2.0 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — August, 2008

The well-rounded Norton 360 gets even better with the release of Norton 360 2.0. Installing the software took a total of 8 minutes, after which, you’ll see that the 2.0 still has the same clean and intuitive interface. The main screen has only four buttons to choose from. Scrolling over these choices will unravel the tasks you can perform. Norton decided to skip over more advanced options, and opted for a “set and forget” type of program. Everything can be run by the scheduler, such as the backing up of your system or even a full system scan. It should be noted that the Norton 360 2.0 doesn’t have much effect on the system’s performance. What sets version 2.0 from its predecessor is the addition of an identity theft protection which allows you to safely store and manage passwords. It also has one-click login capability to protect your passwords from keyloggers. With an intensive computer protection suite, a “set and forget” approach and the low performance impact, the Norton 360 2.0 is a great choice for your security suite.
Pros:
-protects from identity thefts
-more back up options
-intuitive interface
-low performance impact
Cons:
-one scan process at a time only
-limited options

Just like Norton Internet Security 2008, Norton 360 protects your computer - but it does the job in the background. The application performs all the scans and protective tasks during your computer’s idle time. Like most security programs, you can also program the Norton 360 to shut down the computer automatically once it’s completed all of its assigned tasks. The Norton 360 also lets you backup your essential files on both local and online locations. It also has an anti-phishing and web site validation features so that you can safely surf the Internet without worrying about identity theft or accidentally downloading malware. Should any problems surface, all you need to do is click the “fix” button. However, the reviewer observes that Norton 360’s firewall is less effective than Norton Internet Security. Despite this, it still is better than other firewalls out there. Overall, Symantec’s Norton 360 is a tough security suite that is simple enough for even the most novice users.
Pros:
-Powerful anti-malware and firewall
-Automated background scanning
-Can backup to local or online locations
-Now with registry cleanup
-Help readily available
-Protects personal info and passwords
Cons:
-Antispam is still not perfect
-Parental control need improvement
-Less effective than other anti-malware
-Remote-monitoring needs more details
