Sylvania g Netbook Meso Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — August, 2008

Slapping its own brand on an 8.9-inch mini-notebook, the electrical equipment manufacturer Sylvania has joined the mini-notebook bandwagon. The Sylvania g Netbook Meso comes in 4 different colors. The reviewer stated that the g Meso looks good from afar. Up close, however, is a different story. It features a boxy look and a plastic chassis that resembles a portable DVD player more than a mini-notebook. Nonetheless, the unit’s build felt sturdy. It has a travel weight of only 3 pounds with its AC adapter. The 8.9-inch, 1024 x 600-pixel resolution matte screen looked sharp, though colors were somewhat muted. The speakers were loud, though the reviewer noted that they sounded tinny. The keyboard is not meant for touch-typist due to their size. The g Meso features the customized Ubuntu’s Netbook Remix. It looks pleasant and it allows for easy multitasking. The 1.6-GHz Intel Atom processor and 512 MB of RAM are enough to allow multitasking without slowing down programs. The 4-cell battery powered the g Meso for 3 hours and 2 minutes with Wi-Fi on. While it does have some good points, the Sylvania g Netbook Meso’s flavorless design and cramped keyboard might turn you off.
Pros:
-Simple OS
-Decent battery life
-Portable
Cons:
-Boxy design
-Cramped keyboard
-Slow boot time
