Studio 4 Productions Indifocus Reviews

Summary of review published by DV Magazine — October, 2007

Sometimes one just needs his gear to work like it’s supposed to, without any of the fancy trimmings, and that’s what the IndiFocus does. While it does lack some polish and design could be tighter, they can be compensated for. In this reviewer, the writer notes several of the unit’s shortcomings and ideas on how to cope with them. At its price, the IndiFocus is ideal for the starting young videographer. The features are basic, but it does well in certain specific configurations. The IndiFocus’s design, though, it not very sturdy and is not ideal for use in professional shoots.
Pros:
-Vertical riser adjustment
-Single knob locks unit to rods
-Can be reverse-mounted without removing the unit base from rods
Cons:
-Weak vertical riser nearly negates its own usefulness
-Ships with non-standard focus gear and non-standard accessory port
-Focus gear is fixed to one side of gearbox
-Marker wheel and indicator cannot be rotated
-Excessive amount of gearbox play
