Sony Handycam DCR-HC62 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — June, 2008

If you think that budget camcorder means basic and the usual plain ol’ features, you’re in for a treat with Sony’s Handycam DCR-HC62. Pick one up and you’ll immediately notice that it’s light and has a thin frame. What sets it apart from the usual budget camcorders is the innovative touchscreen. Because of the touchscreen LCD, Sony was able to remove most of the physical buttons, giving your camera a more clutter-free look with less buttons. While most LCD pick up smudges with the lightest touch, the reviewer noted that the DCR-HC62 seems to be mostly resistant to serious smudging or fingerprints. Video quality is excellent, featuring vivid and satisfying videos. However, the reviewer stated that the 25x optical zoom is underpowered, even for a budget camcorder. Also, putting the zoom into use will mean trouble with getting the shot steady. Nevertheless, with the Sony Handycam DCR-HC62’s novel LCD touchscreen and great video quality, this budget camcorder is worth your every penny.
Pros:
-Great touchscreen LCD
-Thin frame
-Excellent video quality
-1-MP stills
Cons:
-Underpowered 25x zoom
-Records in Memory Stick flash cards
