Sonnet Fusion F2 Reviews

Summary of review published by DV Magazine — March, 2008 (page 16)

The Fusion F2 from Sonnet Technologies bridges the gap even closer between desktop and portable editing systems. Armed with a hefty 640GB disk space, it’s specifically designed to satisfy the needs of even the most demanding MacBook Pro editor. The F2 uses two eSATA drives that connect to the MacBook Pro thru an Express34 eSATA card, and draws its power from the FireWire 400 port. Inside, it’s actually two 2.5” 320GB 5200 rpm drives. Don’t let the lower rpm fool you because it’s actually quite faster than other 7200 rpm drives due to its density. The reviewer’s one concern is the potential conflict with power source of the F2, as the Express34 slot may be needed for solid state cards. However, there are possible workarounds, and the F2’s novel design still earns the reviewer’s praise.
Pros:
-Ingenious design
-Great speed
-Huge storage capacity
Cons:
-Power source may be an issue
