Socket GPS Navkit Reviews

Summary of review published by Handheld Computing — December, 2005 (page 40)

Socket GPS NavKit easy to install with PC and connected Pocket PC, but some navigation buttons (close window vs. quit application) are confusing. The program uses the NAVTEQ database, which may be slightly inaccurate in places. Setting route can be convoluted. Map view adequate for navigation, though not as clear as TomTom. Bluetooth support worked well in test, and excellent MapLoader application allows for map storage in memory directory of choice instead of automatic install. Bundle includes power options for rechargeable unit in international voltages/sockets and satellite reception superior in testing. The initial price offering of this unit is a bit steep.
Pros:
-Easy to use installer
-Superior reception
-Good battery life (~8hrs.)
-International power options
Cons:
-Pricey
-Uses NAVTEQ (can be inaccurate)
-Some interface buttons confusing
