Sling Media Slingbox SOLO Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — April, 2008

Just like any other SlingBox product, the SOLO gives you clear picture quality and simple set up without any monthly cost. The SOLO is much smaller than the original SlingBox. It can connect to cable, your DVR box, and your DVD player as well. To stream videos, you need a broadband Internet connection, home network router, and a Windows or Mac-based PC. Although you can install the SlingPlayer to an unlimited number of computers, you can only watch one at a time. The reviewer tested it and was pleased with SlingPlayer’s delivery of crisp pictures and stereo sound. When tried with HD videos, the quality seems to diminish but still bearable.
Pros:
-HD compatible
-Good video output
-Simple software
-Value for your money
Cons:
-No monthly fee
-No Wi-Fi connection
-Doesn’t stream HD quality all the time
-SlingPlayer Mobile costs extra
