Now that video content is everywhere, and the Web is littered with online TV programming guides, it may seem odd to have to pay a hefty sum for the Slingbox Pro-HD. But if you’re into the quality of your videos, it makes perfect sense. Unlike the previous iteration of Slingbox, the Pro-HD streams high definition video using its component inputs up to 1080i. This means that notebook owners with a 16:9 screen can watch high-def content broadcast in that aspect ratio. The trapezoidal Pro-HD packs numerous ports and comes with several connectivity wires. The reviewer stated that after downloading and installing the 90.1MB SlingPlayer for Windows, it immediately recognized the Slingbox over the network. The SlingPlayer features Live video buffering that allows users to pause, rewind, and fast-forward up to an hour of content. Picture quality is very sharp and has very little pixelation. It includes a built-in ATSC/Clear Qam digital tuner, though the reviewer found the execution less than perfect. For Windows Mobile-powered smart phone users, there’s the SlingPlayer Mobile to access the Slingbox Pro-HD. The ease of setting it up and the superb video quality it offers make the Slingbox Pro-HD the best Slingbox yet.
