Sling Media Slingbox Pro Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — January, 2007

Letting you watch your home TV anywhere is the forte of the Slingbox. But with the Slingbox Pro, they tried to take it a step further. Getting started with the Slingbox was easy, as the reviewer stated that the software does an excellent job walking users through the network setup. The Slingbox accepts 3 video sources: via its one RF coaxial signal, one S-video connection, and one standard RCA jack video source. Since the Slingbox does not have an HDMI port, a separately bought HD breakout box is available. As for the software, you can download and install it to as many computers you like without additional charges. A special client is also available for Smart phones at an additional cost. When it comes to the quality of the picture, the reviewer found it quite good even in full screen mode. When using the HD, the picture tends to look squeezed. On smart phones, the reviewer stated that the images were jerky and microscopic. Nevertheless, if you want to take your home theater with you anywhere you go without being burdened by the cost, the Slingbox Pro is the device just for you.
Pros:
-Allows you to watch your TV wherever you are
-HD available
-Mac support
Cons:
-No HDMI
-Jerky when used with smart phones
