Sharpcast SugarSync Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — March, 2008

Backing up data is a very important issue, but we cannot deny how much trouble it is. That is why Sharpcast tried to sweeten the process when it released SugarSync. SugarSync allows you to change a document, upload it in your online backup storage. The best part is that these changes can be reflected across a number of devices instantly. Once you’ve signed up with SugarSync, just download the manager software which is required for each computer you’d want to back up. The reviewer stated that setting up took only 2 minutes and they were able to access each computer locally through the SugarSync software. A Windows Mobile client is also available for smart phones and PDA. Once installed, you get to see all the computers you’ve synched. If you love taking pictures using your cell phone, images taken with SugarSync will automatically be stored online and synched to all your synched computers in just a few minutes. Despite flaws such as slow uploads and some minor upload queue quirks, the reviewer stated that no major problems were experienced with SugarSync. SugarSync is for anyone who needs a service where data can be stored, backed up and accessed from any mobile or computer device.
Pros:
-Automatically updates files on synched PCs
-Intuitive interface
-Competitive pricing
Cons:
-Slow performance on large sized files
-Queuing quirks
