SecureMac MacScan 2.5 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

The invulnerability enjoyed by Macintosh system is now gone and Apple-specific threats are now a reality, just like the DNSChanger Trojan horse. And because of this, Apple-specific spyware protection software is now needed. One such software is the SecureMac MacScan 2.5. The MacScan detects and removes spyware without the fuss. The reviewer stated that the interface might not be that polished, but getting around the software wasn’t a problem. Users can easily go around the software and change the settings to suit their needs. To test the software, the reviewer ran it on a Leopard-based system. It took only 5 minutes for the scan to finish. One nifty feature of the MacScan 2.5 is the MacScan’s Blacklisted Cookie Scan. Now, you don’t have to lose all your saved information on cookies because of a single bad cookie. One flaw of the MacScan is the lack of a browser protection, which means you are not protected while you are not browsing. But if it’s solely an anti-spyware software for Mac systems you need, then a regularly updated SecureMac MacScan 2.5 can protect you against the latest threats.
Pros:
-Intuitive software
-Fast scans

Cons:
-No protection for browser
-For spyware only
