Continuing the Xacti heritage of compactness, features and affordability, Sanyo rolls out the VPC-CG9 as its newest member. It maintains the pistol-grip form factor that gives your thumb the power to single-handedly control the camera. While it only weighs 6.4 ounces, the reviewer noted that you would have to use both hands for greater stability and control. It has 2 video-recording modes: High Quality and Blog mode, though the reviewer stated that the difference between the 2 modes isn’t that profound. Videos taken with the VPC-CG9 seemed to vibrate due to the overcompensation of the image stabilization. Still photos looked great. Using the pressure-sensitive trigger button needs getting used to, as it’s quite difficult to gauge how much pressure to use to do a certain task. Getting excellent still photos is great, but the difficult to use trigger and the ho-hum image stabilization of the VPC-CG9 spoils an otherwise easy to use camera.
