Multimedia cellular phone fans will find a lot to love in Sprint’s latest Sanyo multimedia handset, the Katana Eclipse. The Eclipse won’t make a bulge in any pocket and weighs only 3.4 ounces. It has a mirror-like reflective lid and two strips along the edge that pulsates when powered-on or charging. The 1-inch outer screen displays the time and date. While the exterior of the Eclipse looks chic, the interior looks bland. The reviewer noted that the 2-inch inner screen isn’t very sharp and looks small due to wasted space. As for storage, it comes with 10MB on-board storage and a microSDHC slot that can support up to 8GB. Music through the Eclipse’s speaker was loud and with minimal distortion. It also supports over-the-air download through the Sprint Music Store. For video streaming and on-demand programming, you can avail of Sprint TV. The reviewer noted that the 3G connection was fast, though some sites cannot be viewed properly. The Eclipse is readily available for GPS use thanks to Sprint Navigation. Calls sounded clear with no pops or hisses, only the occasional echo. For multimedia mavens in the market for a solid multimedia phone, the Katana Eclipse will serve you well.
