SanDisk Sansa Fuze Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — June, 2008

The Fuze is SanDisk’s answer to Apple’s third generation iPod Nano. It has the same capacity as the Nano but is priced lower than the competition. According to the reviewer, the Fuze’s only weakness is its limited file support. After all, it does well on other aspects such as its microSD memory slot, voice and radio recorder, and its FM tuner. Plus, it looks attractive, with responsive controls. The Fuze comes in four color options - red, blue, black and silver. Music playback can be enhanced with its 5 band equalizer, but the reviewer also suggests upgrading the earphones to enjoy the sound quality more. For a user-friendly, slick-looking media player, the Fuze is a good choice. The reviewer concludes that it’s the best alternative to the other high-priced media players in the market today.
Pros:
-Reasonable price
-Small and compact
-Accepts microSD card
-FM tuner
-Built-in radio and voice recorder
Cons:
-Limited file support
-Photo and video files need to be converted to be recognized

SanDisk Sansa Fuze is out to give the iPOD Nano a run for its money. With excellent sound quality, an FM radio, a microSD/microSDHC Card slot and a much cheaper price tag, the Fuze is a serious media player contender. The Fuze is available on different colors depending on the capacity of the unit which ranges from 2GB to the high-end 8GB. Though the formats compatible with the Fuze is limited, you can still load the usual MP3, WAV, and WMV files. The reviewer stated that playback was smooth, bass was vibrant and the highs were crisp even with the bundled earbuds. You also get an FM tuner with 40 presets available which is twice as many as the Sansa View. You can also view images on the 220 x 176-pixel resolution display, though high resolution images were jagged. The Fuze plays MPEG-4 formats only and you have to convert all other formats using the bundled software. Video playback was smooth but possessed a certain grainy quality. Despite these minor flaws, the reviewer stated that the SanDisk Sansa Fuze is still an excellent digital audio player.
Pros:
-Great sound quality
-Decent video playback
-MicroSD/microSDHC Card slot

Cons:
-Multi-platform compatible
-Limited format
-Boring screen
