Samsung Instinct Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — June, 2008

Sprint scored a beauty when it added into their phone roster the Samsung Instinct. It comes in a very attractive smoke gray hue, smooth plastic and matte black color. Its sides are riddled with useful buttons for quick access including a microSD Card slot. In front are three haptic touch buttons: Return, Home, and a Call button. The 3.1-inch 432 x 240 pixel display is bright and colorful, and the user interface is very smooth. Through Sprint’s EV-DO connection, internet browsing is quite speedy, though the overall browsing experience is a bit clunky. Setting up an email account is a cinch, and numerous email services are supported. The EV-DO connection really does wonder when it comes to downloading music from the Sprint’s built-in Music Store. On the other hand, TV and video streaming is quite slow in Sprint’s network. Call quality is decent, though callers complained of a slightly muffled and fuzzy sound. Battery endurance is great during standby, though the reviewer stated that constant streaming and phone calls drained the battery in four hours. For Sprint customers looking for a touchscreen phone with all the bells and whistles, the Samsung Instinct deserves a second look.
Pros:
-Easy to learn UI
-Over-the-air downloads
-2MP camera
-GPS
-Responsive touchscreen and keyboard
Cons:
-Unimpressive web browsing
-Slow Mobile TV
-Weak camera
-Screen is easily scratched
