Samsung once again expands its phone selection with the release of the new Samsung Innov8 i8510. It packs an 8-MP sensor, making it a bit large and heavy for a phone. It measures 4.2 x 2.1 x 0.7 inches and weighs a hefty 3.2 ounces. A bright 2.8-inch screen adorns the front, while the back has a clean matte black finish, giving it a point-and-shoot camera look. It runs on Symbian, an easy-to-use and colorful OS. The reviewer stated that the camera is the crown jewel of the i8510. Despite lacking a dedicated low-light setting, it held its own in low-light situations. Outdoor shots were crisp and bright. The lighting was pleasant and lifelike, though some shots looked overexposed. Videos taken at 30 fps looked razor-sharp, even when viewed at the phone’s screen. For multimedia mavens, the i850 includes a music player, FM radio, voice recorder, and video editor. It supports HSDPA, EDGE and Wi-Fi. Web browsing is made intuitive, thanks to the touch-sensitive navigational pad. Call quality is passable while battery life is rated at 8.5 hours of talk time and almost 13 days of standby time. The biggest downside of the i850 is the price, fetching as much as $600. Nonetheless, if you have the cash and would want to have an excellent camera phone, the Samsung Innov8 i8510 is more than capable.
