Samsung Behold Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — November, 2008

While some say that a camera phone will never replace a dedicated point-and-shoot, the new Samsung Behold comes really close. The 4.1 x 2.1 x 0.5-inch Behold has a 3-inch touchscreen display with haptic feedback and a built-in accelerometer. The reviewer stated that the Behold is one of the first Samsung phones available stateside with the TouchWiz user interface. It has two primary keyboards: alphanumeric and a full QWERTY when typing in landscape mode. The 5-MP autofocus camera provided excellent shots on both indoors and outdoors. Pictures are sharp and the colors are vibrant. Despite the LED flash, a shot in a dark room came out blurry and a bit noisy. The Samsung’s TouchWiz widget bar has an IM application, a shortcut for launching AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo Chat applications. Web browsing is quite limited - users are usually stuck with the mobile versions of most Web pages, and full HTML sites don’t render correctly. GPS is available through the Telenav GPS software that's preinstalled on the Behold. Call quality on a landline sounded excellent, though a bit tinny and loud. You can expect the battery to hold for a weekend if pictures are taken just occasionally. A fun user interface, excellent camera and 3G capability make the Samsung Behold a solid camera phone choice.
Pros:
-excellent 5-MP camera
-slim design
-good touchscreen

Cons:
-poor web browser
-no Wi-Fi
