Roland R-4 Pro 4-Channel Digital Recorder Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — June, 2007

The R-4 Pro 4-channel portable recorder and wave editor is a well-built, compact device. It features four XLR mic inputs, 80GBs of internal storage, a frequency response of 20Hz-40kHz, and several popular sampling frequencies with up to 192kHz at bit depths of 16 or 24 bits. You can set two stage input levels like a standard mixer with real time level indicators displayed on the LCD panel. For a 0dB level, one can turn the interior knob halfway. To adjust gain or "sensitivity", just raise the outer-ring adjustment knob. Unfortunately, adjustments are limited to just 11 sensitivities from -56dB to +4dB. With the USB connectors, transferring files to the computer for editing is simple enough, but you will need an equally capable sound card to be able to accept the high quality audio samples. The R-4 Pro is a high quality audio recorder for the budget conscious.
Pros:
-Professional Audio equipment on-the-go
Cons:
-Limited access to controls when in case
