Research in Motion Blackberry Storm Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — November, 2008

There is no question that the latest release of RIM, the new Blackberry Storm, is one innovative device. Measuring 4.4 x 2.5 x 0.6 inches and weighing 5.5 ounces, you’ll definitely feel the Storm in your pocket. It comes in a black tapered design with silver trim and a brushed-metal battery cover on the back. The display measures 3.3 inches - a bit on the small side given the size of the whole unit. The 480 x 360-pixel display is bright and sharp. The SurePress technology makes the touchscreen on the Storm unique. It provides a natural typing experience when entering text using the thumbs. However, accuracy deteriorates when one picks up speed. Being a Blackberry, the Storm offers the same excellent push e-mail experience as other devices in the line. It offers a plethora of instant messaging choices including AIM, BlackBerry Messenger, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger. Web browsing can be done using Verizon Wireless’ speedy EV-DO network as well as through Wi-Fi. The reviewer stated that the Storm shines in the GPS arena. Multimedia fans will love the phone’s loud speakers. It is also compatible with Rhapsody to Go’s $14.99 monthly subscription plan. The 3.2-MP camera, while slow, takes sharp pictures. Call quality is good with reliable volume and clarity. While the Blackberry Storm does offer a lot of great features, the sluggish interface and the frustrating keyboard might be deal breakers for some.
Pros:
-excellent touchscreen
-good voice quality
-GPS working great

Cons:
-slow display reorientation
-no Wi-Fi
-buggy software
