The BlackBerry Curve 8330 is RIM’s smallest Blackberry with a full QWERTY keyboard to date. Almost identical to the original Curve 8300, it still features the same sleek black keypad, a bright 2.4-inch, 320x240-pixel display and trackball for navigation. The interface remains faithful to the 8300, though Sprint’s custom theme offers a few folders: Communities and Instant Messaging. The Instant Messaging folder contains installers for popular IM clients. In the Communities, you get a Facebook app. The 8330 includes a speedy EV-DO connection with Sprint. The 8330 supports a plethora of file formats for audio, though only a few for video. You also get over-the-air downloads courtesy of the Sprint Music Store and TV playback via Sprint TV. Downloading music is fast but the player was sluggish and had a tendency to freeze during playback. On the other hand, music sounded crisp and clear. GPS, which is powered by Telenav, worked accurately, providing turn-by-turn directions as well pinpointing of your location. Call quality over the 8330 is devoid of background noise and static and is very clear. If it’s a multimedia powerhouse you are after and you are a Sprint customer, the Curve 8330 is the way to go.
