Pure Digital started the YouTube camcorder craze but was easily overtaken by competitors who offered HD resolution. This time around, they try to even the odds with their latest offering, the Flip Mino HD. It is identical in size and design to the standard-def Flip Mino, measuring 3.9 x 2.0 x 0.6 inches and weighing in at 3.3 ounces, making it the smallest HD camcorder. Unfortunately, the LCD itself is tiny at only 1.5 inches. It also lacks a memory card slot and relies on the 4GB internal memory. The Mino HD’s 720p video quality was smooth. It performed well in a wide range of lighting conditions. However, it wasn’t so great capturing fast-paced scenes since it can only capture up to 30 fps. An editing software named FlipShare is bundled. The reviewer stated that the interface is fool-proof, though the options on how to edit your video are very much limited. Battery life is rated at 2 hours, which is half of the standard-def Mino. If size is the topmost priority, the really small Flip Mino HD can easily slide into your pockets.
