The latest release of Pinnacle’s popular Studio editing software mixes fun and ease of use that’s available in different packages. It has a bevy of features to give it a professional look without bogging down beginners. It comes with a 300-page user guide, though the reviewer stated that it revealed mostly just definitions and not how-tos. Users of previous Studio versions will find some old friends, such as the four audio tracks and the two tracks for video. It also comes with Scorefitter, a library of customizable MIDI tracks that can fit your background music to any length. Some of the newer features are the key frame placement for audio tweaking. There is also the Montage that showcases 80 pre-made templates and multi-layered effects. Other new features include a crop tool that lets you crop the black bars from the edges of photos or video, an Asset Reference tool that allows you to easily find a clip in the timeline or album, 27 new titles and 30 new DVD menus. Bundled with the Studio 12 are Boris Graffiti, ProDAD VitaScene and Magic Bullet. With Studio 12, you can natively author Blu-ray discs with full motion menus or make AVCHD format discs on standard DVDs to play on your Blu-ray player. All in all, the Studio 12 is a good choice for video editing, even for beginners.
