Pharos Ostia Reviews

Summary of review published by Pocket PC — September, 2005 (page 63)

Ostia is a GPS navigation application that has one of the most user-friendly interfaces out there. The program buttons are large and easy to read, and the interface is quite pleasant and well-designed. It has the basic features that most GPS programs share, but it also has impressive advanced features such as one-touch rerouting. The program even allows you to save your 11 most recent destinations, so that you can quickly and easily return to them. You can also try out proposed routes through Ostia’s simulation mode, if you want to virtually try out a route before leaving. The program also alerts you on additional information such as current traffic, new maps, and points of interest (including Wi-fi hotspots). For non-addressed destinations, you can enter the latitude and longitude of your destination. It also displays a wealth of information on your screen such as the direction of your next turn, next street name, distance to your next turn, your current street name, and the distance to your final destination. The product comes with Bluetooth, a CompactFlash card, SDIO card, and GPS receivers. Only US and Canadian maps are available to use with Ostia.
Pros:
-Live traffic reports
-Extensive list of points of interest, including Wi-fi hotspots
-Easy-to-use interface
Cons:
-None
