Petroff P44-2 Reviews

Summary of review published by DV Magazine — November, 2007 (page 21)

If you have a small DV camera and you want to fight off those lens flares when shooting outdoors, try to check out the Petroff P44-2. It’s a tiny unit that has two 4x4 filter trays in independent, rotating stages. You’ll need an Allen wrench to lock the filters in. You can also stack on additional filter stages. Unlike higher end matte boxes that are mostly metal, the P44-2 is primarily made of plastic. For example, the filter trays are plastic with a spring-loaded catch to clamp to the filters. However, its French flag is metal and attaches without tools.
Pros:
-Can be adjusted vertically
-Small
-Additional filter stages possible
Cons:
-Rod mounts made of plastic
-Range of movement limited
-Tools needed to lock filters in place
