The Pentax Optio S6 is point-and-shoot camera with some notable features that distinguish itself from the rest of the pack. For example, the Optio S6 is housed in a traditional metallic box typical of ultra-compact cameras, but sticks out with its incredibly thin futuristic design. Pentax succeeds in making this among the lightest and smallest camera available today. With a 2.5 inch LCD that is more than adequate for viewing playback, it currently has the highest resolution of all cameras in its class. What’s more, it also has onboard power and I/O jacks for maximum connectivity. Pentax also made the superb move of assigning a dedicated button to important camera functions, like menu, trash and replay buttons. The standard navigation ring is now clearly visible. The mode slider, however, is no longer there. Pentax opted to embed this functionality in its onscreen menu. These menus are easy to navigate and user-friendly. The movie mode is technologically up-to-date with 640x480 clips at 30 frames per second - this is the highest resolution currently available on digital cameras, and is more than enough for making home videos and the like.
