Parrot decided to go beyond what traditional Bluetooth speakers have to offer with the DS3120. The DS3120 is compact, measuring only 11.7 inches wide and 3.9 inches deep. On the top of the unit is a bright and clear 1.8-inch LCD. Below are the 9 buttons to control the DS3120’s functions. However, the reviewer noted that the buttons require a bit of force to press, which usually means tipping the unit over. Placed at the bottom are the SD/MMC memory card reader, the USB port, and the 3.5mm line-in jack. The on-screen menu is easy to navigate, though the reviewer noted that volume control doesn’t work on all screens. Sound quality through Bluetooth sounded decent, but a bit muffled. Playing through the line-in, SD Card, and USB port sounded much cleaner, though not stellar. Cranking up the volume didn’t produce distortion, unlike some Bluetooth speakers. As a speakerphone, the reviewer noted that a test caller had trouble hearing when five feet away from the DS3120. While the DS3120 had a rated range of 33 feet, it still held a Bluetooth connection at 50 feet. The versatility of the DS3120 makes it a compelling choice for a Bluetooth speaker.
Pros:
-accepts multiple sources of files
-compact
Cons:
-no rechargeable battery
-can’t control volume on some screens
