The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50S has a lot going for it. It features a 10x zoom, Wi-Fi connectivity, and the ability to record high-def videos. Encasing the TZ50S is a well-built, all-metal, compact body. Controls are easily reachable even for users with large fingers. However, the mic, speaker and even the flash are poorly placed, easily covered when using the camera with both hands. The TZ50S has a 3-inch high-resolution display that’s very bright and colorful. What sets the TZ50S apart is the built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connection. However, the reviewer noted that the service is very limited, allowing the user to upload images only in Google’s picture-sharing web site, Picasa. Adorning the camera’s front is a 10X Leica lens with true 28mm wide angle. Images taken with the TZ50S had very good quality, with decent sharpness, contrast and color. It can record video at a resolution of 1280 x 720-pixel, and a frame rate of 30 fps. Videos looked good, though audio was mediocre at best. Speed test showed that, depending on the settings, the camera can either perform quickly or agonizingly long. Overall, because of the limited service and the hefty premium Panasonic charges, you might instead want to look at cheaper alternatives.
