Using menus can either make the operation of a digital camera a whole lot easier, or a whole lot more difficult. With the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS80, it’s the latter. It comes in a boxy design that’s easy to hold and operate with one hand. The 2.5-inch LCD is bright and legible and still viewable even in sunlight. While the controls are well marked, though the reviewer noted that having two Menu buttons can be quite confusing. Knowing which button activates can take some getting used to. It has optical image stabilization as well as the Intelligent ISO which reduces blur and motion jitter. Even without a face recognition technology, the DMC-LS80 can excellently analyze up to 5 areas and averages the focus point accurately. Boot up time is a somewhat slow 1.8 seconds, but the reviewer noted that they were able to shoot seven shots per second in continuous mode. Still images produced were good, had crisp and clean colors, great exposure and good contrast and brightness. You can easily capture full 30 fps video with the DMC-LS80 in widescreen format. Setting the confusing menus aside, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS80 delivers good image quality and excellent video footage.
