Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

Fitting wide lenses on its compact cameras was a first by Panasonic. With the release of the DMC-FX35, it has proven once more that they haven’t lost their touch. Combining a tasteful design with 4X optical zoom lens with a 35mm equivalency of 25â€"100mm, this camera is great for those who love taking wide landscape photos without burning too much money. Overall speed of the camera isn’t stellar, though it doesn’t have shutter lag as long as it was prefocused. It also features the expanded Intelligent Scene Selector mode which automatically sets the appropriate scene mode based on the surrounding conditions. The reviewer noted that the right scene is usually picked, though close-ups usually produced wrong choices. When doing motion shots, the reviewer stated that images were mostly blurry and had too much noise, even with the image stabilizer. Audio and video of the movie caught with the DMC-FX35 had good image and sound quality. However, focus and zoom cannot be changed once you start recording. Though image quality is inconsistent, if you are in need of a sub-$400 camera for landscape shooting, the Lumix DMC-FX35 is worth the second look.
Pros:
-Wide-angle lenses
-Intelligent Scene Selector
-Tasteful design

Cons:
-Sub-par video mode
-High amount of noise at higher ISO
-Fixed zoom and focus on video mode
