Panasonic HPX500 Reviews

Summary of review published by DV Magazine — October, 2007 (page 16)

The successor to the AG-HPX200, the Panasonic AG-HPX500 is a full shoulder-mount 2/3” 3CCD HD with a 14-bit A/D converter with 19-bit internal processing. Both cameras are tapeless, using up to four 16GB solid-state P2 cards. Recording can be made in 1080, 720 or 480 line resolutions in DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO 50, DVCPRO or DV. With a quick menu adjustment, the HPX500 can change from 59.94 to 50 Hz, and vice versa. Variable frame rates can be achieved in the 720 line resolution (12 to 60 fps). Despite all its technical features and flexibility, the best thing about this camera for the reviewer is its reasonably low price.
Pros:
-Multiple recording formats
-P2 support
-4-channel audio
-Excellent focus assist
-Superb image quality
Cons:
-Tiny viewfinder
-A bit heavy
