Panasonic HDC-SD9 Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — March, 2008

Panasonic’s reputation of producing great prosumer camcorders was slightly marred with the release of the Panasonic HDC-SD9. Weighing only 9.7 ounces, the HDC-SD9 is a lightweight three-CCD camera that has the ability to record 1080i video (1920 x 1080) to SD cards. The reviewer noted that though it’s on the light side, the HDC-SD9’s design is clearly wanting. Most control buttons as well as its ports were poorly placed. Performance-wise, the HDC-SD9 didn’t do so well during testing. It shoots amazing video â€" as long as you don’t jostle the camera even a bit. Performance was jittering even at the highest recording level. Low lights produced gloomy renderings and low detail. On the other hand, the reviewer stated that sound reproduction was quite good. Even the bundled software was found lacking. Overall, the design flaws as well as the poor video performance of the HDC-SD9 led the reviewer to conclude that, though the camcorder looked pretty in the outside, it’s vacant in the inside.
Pros:
-Lightweight
-Sound reproduction is good

Cons:
-Poorly designed
-Poor video performance
