Palm Treo 750 Reviews

Summary of review published by Smartphone & Pocket PC — August, 2007

In January 2007, Palm introduced the Treo 750, a GSM world phone with a lighter body, redesigned for softer feel. The 750 is available from AT&T (formerly Cingular). Like the Treo 700 series, the 750 also has the optimized Today screen for one-handed operation and other built-in features. The QWERTY keyboard is still there for text entry convenience, as well as the Microsoft Office Mobile applications. One difference is that the 750 runs on the 3G/UMTS networks worldwide, unlike the 700 which ran on EVDO. Although, the 750 still doesn’t have built-in Wi-Fi which is a bit of a let down, but users will be glad to know that it has A2DP support.

The first thing that the reviewer noticed about the Treo 750, is that unlike its predecessors, it no longer has a bulky, unaesthetic antenna. This unit is definitely sleeker than the previously launched Treos. Also, Palm changed the stylus from metal to plastic. The connectors are a bit tricky at first. The audio jack is 2.5mm, which means that it needs adaptors when using with regular headphones and speakers. However, the Treo 750 has an amazing voice command feature that allows you to use it hands-free. This means that you can make phonecalls and open programs without touching the device. Even the QWERTY keyboard has a layout that’s friendly for one-hand use. As for the display, the reviewer noted that it has a low resolution display at 240x240. The device also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, and the photo dial feature makes it easy for you to see the picture of the person you’re calling. Wi-Fi access is also missing in this device - although alternatively, you can use a miniSD Wi-Fi card. The software included in the Treo 750 is an installation of Windows Mobile 5.2, as well as the standard applications found in Pocket PC Phone Edition.
Pros:
-Excellent voice-command program
-Easy-to-handle keyboard
-Better, sleeker look
Cons:
-No easy Wi-Fi access
-Low display and camera resolution
-Non-standard audio jack
