Palm Centro Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — February, 2008

For people looking for their first time smart phone, the Palm Centro offered by AT&T comes at a very affordable price of only $99 (after rebates). The Centro comes with the Palm 5.4.9 operating system, a simple and easy to use OS. However, the reviewer noted that it lacks HSPDA and WiFi connections. The reviewer found the memory card slot annoying since you have to remove the battery to insert a memory card. Applications in need of internet connection used EDGE, which the reviewer found to be slower than the Centro offered by Sprint. The 1.3 megapixel camera produced average pictures, and the 352 x 288-pixel resolution is nothing to get excited about. The reviewer stated that calls made with the Centro were of good quality, though the volume of the earpiece could have been turned up just a bit. After using the unit to make calls, surf the net and then put on standby, the Centro was found to have good battery life. The reviewer stated that for only $99, along with a few additions over the Sprint service like XM Radio Mobile support, TeleNav GPS Navigator, and push-to-talk capability, it’s a bargain for first time smart phone users.
Pros:
-Simple to use
-Low price
-Good battery life
-Many bonus from AT&T
Cons:
-No HSPDA and WiFi
-No 3G data
-Hard to access memory slot
