Olympus Stylus 1030 SW Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

Tired of handling your camera like a new-born baby? The Olympus Stylus 1030 SW might just be what you are looking for. Promised by Olympus to be the “toughest point-and-shoot in the world,” the 1030 SW is waterproof, freeze-proof, crush-proof, and dust-proof. The reviewer, in order to put the claims into test, dropped the camera, placed it inside the freezer, submerged it into the bathtub and had a 215-lb man stand on it. The camera survived the onslaught and was able to function normally. Performance-wise, the camera produced mostly good shots with crisp detail and good lighting. However, the camera lacked optical image stabilization, resulting in some blurry pictures taken while moving. For the camera newbies, the 1030 SW features a built-in guide to help you take great pictures. It also offers 24 scene modes that you can use to adapt to any given situation. The 1030 SW can also take video clips, and the reviewer stated that it records smooth AVI files. Battery life is great, with a single charge lasting for several days. Combining durability with ease of use makes the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW a worthy choice for a versatile camera.
Pros:
-Rugged design
-Can take abuse
-Smooth video recordings
-Fast performance

Cons:
-No optical image stabilization
