Nokia’s N-series gets a new member with the Nokia N78. It measures 4.5 by 1.9 by 0.6 inches and weighs 3.9 ounces. The reviewer stated that the unobtrusive profile of the N78 looks similar to the N82, but thinner and lighter. It comes in a slick, black glossy face and a dark chocolate-brown back. In the front of the unit is a 2.4-inch, QVGA 240-by-320-pixel LCD. The keypad may be sleek, but typing was difficult for the reviewer. The keys are very small and the N78 offers no alternative way to input data. Call quality on both directions, on the other hand, is clear, though with a touch of hiss in the background most of the time. The N78 supports AT&T's 3G HSDPA data network and can connect to 802.11b/g networks with its built-in Wi-Fi radio. It also includes Assisted GPS (A-GPS) for faster position locating but the interface was a pain to use. The 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics produced mixed results: sometimes it will produce sharp images but other times the autofocus will fail, resulting in a useless image. The reviewer stated that the N78 handled music excellently. Overall, the N78 is a decent phone.
