Nintendo Wii Reviews

Summary of review published by Computing Unplugged — February, 2007

The first thing the reviewer noticed about the Wii was that it only came with an RCA interface connection, without an option or adaptor for S-Video. Even if this was the case, the reviewer soon found himself impressed with the Wii after he found an S-Video adaptor. The Opera browser (beta version) he used with the Wii was satisfactory, although he thinks it needs more work. With the Wii and the bundled Opera browser, watching YouTube videos is a pleasant experience. However, playing Wii games seemed much more immersive and enjoyable. You can actually get into the stance and swing needed to play the sports you choose. For Wii Tennis and Wii Baseball, the controllers play an accurate impact sound that gives the game a more realistic feel. Although the reviewer was initially unimpressed with Wii Bowling, he soon enjoyed the fact that he had to use the 3-step bowling approach to play the game well. The Wii Golf and Boxing games didn’t seem quite as exciting, especially since it was unclear how a player could score a hit in the boxing game. With all these features, using the Wii is incredibly fun and addictive.
