Nikon delivers another winning DSLR with the new Nikon D90. The 2.4-pound D90 feels sturdy in the hands and the rubbery ergonomic grip and thumb indentation make it easy to hold. The icons accompanying the different buttons and functions are self-explanatory, making it easy to learn your way around the camera. At the back are the viewfinder and a bright 3-inch LCD. It comes with Live View that lets you see the action in the LCD as you frame it and adjust settings. However, the reviewer noted that taking pictures with Live View caused shutter lag. The D90 is the first DSLR to have a movie-recording feature. It records 720p video at 24 frames per second. The advanced settings that give a DSLR superior photo quality can also be tweaked prior to shooting to achieve the same polish. The reviewer stated that shots showed lifelike color and brightness, thanks to Nikon’s 3D Color Matrix Metering II and Scene Recognition System. The D90’s ISO ranges from 100 to 6400, with Automatic ISO ranging from 200 to 3200. It offers burst shooting at a rate of 4.5 fps. For a camera that’s a step above entry-level, the Nikon D90 is a solid choice.
