NewTek SpeedEDIT Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — July, 2007

Newtek’s latest innovation is SpeedEDIT which, true to its name, is claimed to be the "world's fastest video editor." The interface might seem simple, but dig around a bit and you’ll find plenty of options to fool around with. If you’ve used NewTek's earlier product, the Video Toaster, some of the menus and options will feel familiar and easy to understand. Otherwise, the set of choices might take some time to grasp, with features like dynamically linked Storyboard and Timeline panes, easy incorporating of multiple formats, function inheriting, no need of transcoding of different clip resolutions, and real-time DVE. Given an experienced editor at the controls, it’s a very fast way to get your message across. With little to no rendering, intuitive interface, and a wealth of features, SpeedEDIT might just be the editing software you’re looking for.
Pros:
-Innovative timeline editing and storyboard.
-Resolution independent compatibility.
-Quite fast
Cons:
-Drive names aren’t shown in file manager
-A help menu would have been nice
-Layout isn’t standard
