NEC has been churning out projectors that are both attractively priced and powerful, and the new NEC NP61 is no different. It looks exactly like the NP41 model with its plain off-white color scheme and a rectangular shaped body. It is dubbed as an ultraportable due to its 3.6-pound weight. It comes with an excessively large remote control that provides the presenter with adequate buttons. The reviewer noted that the NP61 can almost do everything automatically: detect input type, assign a brightness mode, adjust for any keystone correction and even set the focus. It has a large ratio of 1:1.2X that can easily fill a projector screen. Coupled with a lengthy AC plug and you get flexibility on where to place the projector. During lab testing, it was able to produce a record breaking 3011 lumens. It also scored an impressive contrast ratio of 588:1. Images looked good, though the yellows were unsurprisingly dull due to the DLP engine. The fan noise is audible but can be rectified by putting the NP61 into Eco mode. The NP61 is a good choice for those in the market for a bright, ultraportable projector.
Pros:
-very bright
-auto focus and keystone
-fast warm-up and cooldown
Cons:
-small speaker
-noisy fan
